California Highway Patrol CHP Challenge Coin - SOLD OUT

California Highway Patrol CHP Challege Coin
$14.00
SKU: Coin-510

This excellent minted coin has great detail; double twisted diamond cut edge, enameled colors, epoxies finish, and is made out of fine bronze. The State picture is geographically correct, this was an added feature to bring out the dynamics of this coin. (Please note: The valley showing on California’s State Map is not so profound. Looks a lot better than this picture). The outer rim of the coin proudly displays the written symbolization of the CHP Star’s seven points. This Coin is a little larger than a .50 cent piece. The displayed picture is nice, but when you see the coin in person, you will understand why these coins will be a collector’s item

What is a challenge coin?

Challenge coins were originally used by Special Forces to recognize soldiers for outstanding acts, team training, unit identification, to boost esprit de corps, and to build camaraderie. Today, all military and many law enforcement units have challenge coins. Traditionally, "coining" was executed to see if fellow soldiers were carrying their unit's coin. In the Viet Nam era this tradition was modified slightly so that the loser of the challenge (Not carrying a coin) was obligated to buy a round of drinks. Today Challenge Coins are handsomely presented in display cases for everyone’s enjoyment. Many people trade these coins at training and collect other department coins.
