Paul was assigned as a young officer with the 11th  Airborne and then the 32 Infantry .  When duty called, Paul went to Korea.  Paul lead men into battle with the 32nd Infantry against the North Koreans and the Chinese.  Paul was awarded two purple hearts during this time.  One from a grenade explosion and the second from a incoming mortar attack.
