Specialist Joseph Alan Lucas, 23 years old, was killed in Balad, Iraq on
December 15, 2005. He was killed by a roadside bomb, or IED (improvised
explosive device) while performing duties as a gunner in a HMMWV. He was
serving with A Troop, 5th Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat
Team, 3rd Infantry Division located at Fort Stewart, GA.
